Proverbs Taught by our Ancestors

On page 8 of Volume 2 of BOSA Newsletter under the heading: JAMAICAN PROVERBS THAT OUR ANCESTORS TAUGHT US, we defined a proverb (which comes from the Latin word proverbium) in any language – including Jamaican Patois – as a simple and concrete saying that is popularly known and repeated and expresses a truth based on common sense or the practical experiences of humanity.

Alumnus Roy Winston Holness

Roy Winston Holness, FAIA, ASCA, Public Accountant, Managing Director, Electrical and Electronic Parts Limited, Chairman, Handy Hardware Supplies Limited, Beersheba Elementary School Alumnus; was born on July 15, 1942 at Happy Hall, Saint Elizabeth to Rufus Alexander Holness and Robertha Holness (both deceased), farmer, grocer,  and housewife respectively.

Insatiable appetite for learning

 In the pursuance of his insatiable appetite for learning and higher education which he displayed as a student at Beersheba Elementary School, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies, Roy went on to advance himself scholastically by studying at Crescent College, University of Technology (UTECH), and University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies.
