BOSA Announces The Home Going Of Berrisford “Guptie” Jones – Vincent Samuels

It is with much sad regret that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) announces the home going of Berrisford “Guptie” Jones, age 74 years of Flint Valley, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies.

Berrisford “Guptie” Jones – an alumnus of Beersheba Primary School – who has been ailing for sometime, passed away peacefully in Black River Public General Hospital at 1:30PM on May 30, 2014. He leaves behind wife Edna, children Kenneth, Delroy, Desroy, Sevan “Bobo”, Maureen, Jennifer, Arlene, Faith, Pamella, grand-daughter Shanisa Jones, several other grandchildren and relatives to mourn his loss.

Action taken By Parents At Bickersteth Primary School Should Be A WakeUp Call For Parents At Beersheba Primary School – Vincent Samuels

In accordance with its belief to use peaceful, non-violent civil disobedience to highlight nepotism and other issues that School Boards and the Ministry of Education have failed to address and remedy, Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) supports the action taken by parents at Bickersteth Primary School, Saint James on Monday, May 26, 2014.

In a news release aired by RJR 94 FM Radio at 5:00PM on Monday, May 26, 2014, it was reported that parents at Bickersteth Primary School padlocked the main gate to the school and prevented a female teacher who is alleged to have used excessive corporal punishment on children from taking up teaching duties in her class.
It is indeed unfortunate that it has to take peaceful, non-violent civil disobedience for the Ministry of Education to intervene,...

The book is about the life and person of James “Dick” Richards (1872-1965), Beersheba Elementary Moravian Church School Alumnus, Soldier, Self-made Businessman, Free Mason, Philanthropist and Icon who freed himself from the shackles of poverty in the impoverished peasant farming Carr District, New Market, Jamaica West Indies where he was born.
