James “Dick” Richards

JamesRichards

In contrast to “cas cas”, “verandah/shop  talk”, and several misconceptions held by “village lawyers” and other unscrupulous persons whose agenda is to propagate mischief, perusal of instructions left by James “Dick” Richards (1872-1965) with respect to funds that are to be disbursed from his estate, clearly stipulate that money  that was to be placed in a Trust Fund for Beersheba Primary School was to provide scholarship for two of the best academic performing students.

The expressed written intention of James “Dick’ Richards that was carried out throughout the years after his death in 1965 by Bermuda Trust Company Limited – a subsidiary of HSBC Bank that bought the assets of Bermuda National Bank in which Mr...

Museum to open for Dick Richards, a Jamaican who left his mark in Bermuda
Meredith Ebbin, Guest writer
