It is very encouraging, satisfying, and refreshing to read in the Jamaica Gleaner about comments made by the Minister of Education and the President Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) regarding under -utilized classroom school space, dwindling student population, teacher student ratio, and professionalism among Principals at Primary Schools respectively.

Lewisville Branch Library, New Market, Saint Elizabeth Will Get Internet Service In 2014 – Vincent Samuels

The Director General Jamaica Library Service has responded positively to the petition made by Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) for Internet Service to be provided at Lewisville Branch Library, New Market, Saint Elizabeth.

The Director General assured Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) in her response that Lewisville Branch Library will definitely be included among several Branch Libraries in rural Jamaica that will be provided with Internet Service in 2014 from a philanthropic grant of JMD 2 million that Bill and Millander Gates Foundation has made to Jamaica Library service.

Ministry Of Education Sacking Of Chairman School Board Dunrobin Primary School Sends A Strong Signal Of Zero Tolerance To School Boards That Continue To Defy Its Legitimate Directive

The sacking of the Chairman School Board at Dunrobin Primary School by the Ministry of Education is commendable and sends a strong signal of zero tolerance to other School Boards that continue to defy the Ministry’s legitimate directive.

Chairmen of School Boards need to understand that they are not intended to be entities that rule by oligarchy, but they are responsible, accountable, and report to the Minister of Education by whom they are appointed.
