BOSA Announces The Home Going of Nonagenarian Usella Kathleen Smith of Long Ground Dist, New Market – Vincent Samuels

It is with a sense of awe and consternation that Ms. Usella Kathleen Smith, Nonagenarian native of Long Ground, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies, Beersheba Elementary School Alumna; peacefully made her transition at home on August 8, 2023, few days short of her ninety-fifth birthday anniversary on September 9, 2023.

A sense of awe, because over the years and up to when Miss Usella (known as Ms. Kathleen) reached threescore and ten years; she was revered and loved by everyone in Long Ground Community for her simple and humble lifestyle that emanated from contagious smiles that came from her aging face.

A sense of consternation, because Usella (Miss Kathleen) who holds the record as being the oldest person in Long Ground Community, has left a vacuum that will be extremely difficult to fill.

Nevertheless, cognizant of what Moses told us all in Psalm 90:10, we rejoice that Miss Kathleen’s God and Saviour whom she loved and revered; blessed her with longevity in which her discomfort in the aging process was tolerable and minimal.

Miss Kathleen, daughter of Frances Ledgister “Miss Minty”, and “Mass Bob” Robert Smith who predeceased her many years ago; has left behind sons Izette and Clinton, grand and great grandchildren and other relatives, friends and well wish-wishers and her Beersheba Moravian Church family to grieve and mourn the loss of their beloved Nonagenarian, all of whom Beersheba Elementary/Primary School Alumni in Jamaica and the Diaspora wish to convey sincere condolences.

Thanksgiving Service for the life of Ms. Usella Kathleen Smith will be held at Beersheba Moravian Church, Beersheba, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies on Saturday, September 30, 2023 commencing at 11:00AM.

Interment follows at the family plot Long Ground where Miss Usella (Ms Kathleen) will be laid to rest.
