BOSA Announces The Home Going Service For Cyril Cain, May 10, 2014, Long Ground District, New Market, Saint Elizabeth – Vincent Samuels

It is with much sad regret that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) wishes to announce the home going of Cyril Cain, age 68 years, Beersheba Elementary Moravian Church School Alumnus of Long Ground, New Market, Saint Elizabeth on March 22, 2014.

Although Cyril was born with Down Syndrome, he led an active life and he was blessed with good health that enabled him to walk frequently from his home in Long Ground to Lewisville, New Market as well as to attend services at New Market Methodist Church where he was a member.

Cyril who was a loving and caring person so much so that he endeared himself to everyone who met and knew him, is the son of Charlie Cain and his wife Lorraine “Aunt Lor” who predeceased him several years ago.

BOSA Visits 90 Year Old Beersheba Elementary Moravian Church School Alumna In Black River General Hospital – Vincent Samuels

As the Secretary/Treasurer Beersheba Old students Association (BOSA) arrived at the bedside of Zita Pryce-Samuels, age 90 years, in the Female Surgical Ward at Black River Public General Hospital on Sunday, March 22, 2014. Zita’s eyes lit up like candles and radiant smiles came from her age wrinkled cheeks when she found out that the person who came to visit her, was the brown skinned baby boy that was born to Simeon and Margaret “Miss Meggie” Samuels of Mount Ease, Flint Valley, New Market, Saint Elizabeth for whom she made a while christening gown and carried him in her arms to the little wooden building that housed The Salvation Army, Carr District where the pastor at the church would invoke God’s blessing on him.

It is with much sad regret that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) announces the home going of Austin “Pat Boone” Smith, age 73 years of Flint Valley, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies on March 12, 2014 after a long illness.

Austin “Pat Boone” Smith, an Alumnus of Beersheba Elementary Moravian Church School is fondly remembered for his melodious crooning voice whenever he sang at Tea Meetings, Singing Meetings, and Wakes that were held in Flint Valley and adjacent communities.

The world audience watched with awe and trepidation on Sunday night March 2, 2014 as Lupita Nyong’o, portrait of black beauty poise and elegance, stepped on the red carpet at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, USA to accept her coveted award at the 86th Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress in the film 12 years a slave.

Lupita’s crowning glory in which she was adorned in her “Nairobi Blue” Prada Gown and 18-karat gold and diamond headband designed for her by Fred Leighton, did not supersede or distract from the humility that she displayed after the award was presented to her on stage in the theatre that was packed with other celebrities.

Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) has endorsed the call made by Rev. Hon. Ronald Thwaites, Minister of Education that parents are to send their children to school within their community. Delivering his address at the official opening of Red Hills Primary School Saint Andrew recently, not only did the Honourable Minister urge parents to send their children to school within their community, but he also made a plea to Members of School Boards, Principals, and Administrators of Primary Schools to desist from administering entry tests to new students since admission must only be based on space availability.
