Action taken By Parents At Bickersteth Primary School Should Be A WakeUp Call For Parents At Beersheba Primary School – Vincent Samuels

In accordance with its belief to use peaceful, non-violent civil disobedience to highlight nepotism and other issues that School Boards and the Ministry of Education have failed to address and remedy, Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) supports the action taken by parents at Bickersteth Primary School, Saint James on Monday, May 26, 2014.

In a news release aired by RJR 94 FM Radio at 5:00PM on Monday, May 26, 2014, it was reported that parents at Bickersteth Primary School padlocked the main gate to the school and prevented a female teacher who is alleged to have used excessive corporal punishment on children from taking up teaching duties in her class.
It is indeed unfortunate that it has to take peaceful, non-violent civil disobedience for the Ministry of Education to intervene, listen and decide to investigate legitimate grievances of parents.
The female teacher at Beersheba Primary School, New Market, Saint Elizabeth whom it is alleged continue to use excessive corporal punishment to discipline and injure students in her class, should view the action taken by parents at Bickersteth Primary School as a wakeup call that should make her realize that although the alleged perception held by the Academic Administration at Beersheba Primary School is that parents who reside in Beersheba Primary School Community are idiots and fools, let it be known that “Tom may appear to be drunk but Tom no fool.”
