School Board At Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies, Has Acquiesced To Meet BOSA On December 4, 2013

 

Following several requests that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) made to the School Board at Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) since June 15, 2012 for the Board to meet the Association to discuss five (5) specific matters relating to the interest and welfare of students who attend the school, the Association has received information from Rev. Phyllis Smith-Seymour, Chairman of the School Board, that the Board will meet with the Association on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 3:00PM.

As indicated in e-mail messages dated June 15, 2012, September 3, 2103, and September 17, 2013 that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) sent to the Chairman of the School Board requesting the meeting, the Association has written to the Chairman reiterating its request that the terms of reference for the meeting should consist of the following:

1.    Formulate and implement a strategy aimed at increasing the student population and attendance at the school.

2.    Formulate and implement a strategy aimed at utilizing the classroom space in the main auditorium that is vacant during school time.

3.    Formulate and implement a strategy aimed at pursuing the offer made by Digicel Group Jamaica to provide Internet Service in the Computer Lab at the school.

4.    Resolution that was unanimously passed at the bi-monthly general meeting of the Association that was held at the school on March 11, 2011, that the name of the school be changed from Beersheba Primary School to James Richards Primary School.

5.    The visit of the Right Worship Graeme P. Outerbridge, J.P., Mayor of Hamilton, Bermuda and Chairman of the Corporation Council of the City of Hamilton, Bermuda to Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased), Carr District – birthplace of James “Dick” Richards –  “Del Cottage”, and other historic heritage sites in Beersheba School Community on a date to be determined that will coincide with BLACK RIVER DAY that will be held on August 2, 2014.

Beersheba School Community – the genesis that culminated in the Official Twinning of the City of Hamilton, Bermuda and the Town of Black River, Saint Elizabeth, is of great significance to Heritage Tourism and Socio-Economic Cultural Exchanges that will take place between both Municipalities.
