Everton “Ruddy” Lewis, 53 year old Cattle Farmer and Butcher, was gunned down in cold blood at his home at Speculation, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies at about 6:00 AM on November 18, 2013. A large crowd – including several motorists from a wide cross section of Black River and adjoining communities who wept openly – converged in the crisp morning air at the deceased home to show their respect and support to family members and relatives of hardworking Mr. Lewis who was well beloved as an agricultural entrepreneur. Black River Police which promptly secured and took charge of the crime scene after Mr. Lewis was gunned down in cold blood at the front entrance of his house, have theorized that robbery is the motive for his death.

Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) wishes to express sincere condolence to Dr. Celeste Lewis, a Trained Teacher and Guidance Counselor at Black River Primary School, her son and step-son of the deceased Dr. Merton Smith, MBBS, Otolaryngologist {ENT Specialist}, and several other family members and relatives.

In commenting on the tragic circumstances under which Mr. Lewis met his death at his home that is nestled in the midst of lush green pastureland that is surrounded by fruit trees at Speculation District which is located near to Hodges Subdivision, Black River, Saint Elizabeth, His Worship the Mayor of Black River and Chairman Saint Elizabeth Parish Council Councillor Everton Fisher, has called on citizens to be vigilant and take appropriate lawful actions to defend themselves against, criminals.  Continuing his comment, Mayor Fisher said he is confident that Black River Police will solve the heinous crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.

 Funeral Service for the deceased will be held at The United Church Of Jamaica And Grand Cayman, Brompton, Saint Elizabeth on Saturday, December 7, 2013 commencing at 10:00 a.m.  Internment will be done at the home of the deceased at Speculation, Saint Elizabeth.
