Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) lauds the announcement that was aired in the 7:00 PM newscasts on TVJ and CVM on Saturday, August 24, 2013 by Hon. Phillip Paulwell, Minister of Energy and Technology, that commencing 2014, text books for schools will be on Tablet Computers that will contain tracking devices against theft.

The announcement made by the Honourable Minister is consistent with the view and concern of the Ministry of Education and Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA), that each child can learn and that no child should be left behind.

With the high level of interest that male students have in Information Technology (IT), Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) is respectfully appealing to the Administration at Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) to work in partnership with the Association so as to ensure that the unfinished Computer Lab at the school is completed and made available to all students at the school. If this is done, no student will ever graduate from the school as a computer illiterate.

Although on the one hand, the introduction of text books on Tablet Computers will be cost effective to parents, and may be challenging to members of the Academic Teaching Staff on the other hand, Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) is urging all members of the Academic Teaching Staff to make themselves available to be trained to effectively and efficiently use this technology as a teaching tool and students companion in the classroom in this Information Technology (IT) Age.

Members of the Academic Teaching Staff who refuse to make themselves available to be trained in the use of Tablet Computers in the classroom by the time roll out of the programme occurs in 2014, should perceive themselves as square pegs in round holes and immediately get out if they cannot withstand “the heat in the kitchen.”

In accordance with its motto: ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH, with full support from Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) Alumni in Jamaica and the Diaspora, the Administration at the school need to remind itself that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) has zero tolerance for mediocrity because it is not only an impediment, but it is inimical to students who should be motivated to become High Academic Achievers And Trailblazers.
