Nickayla Stephens, Grade 8 Student at Saint Elizabeth Technical High School – A Trailblazer from Flint Valley!

In Volume 8 January 2012, pages 4 of 17 – 5  of BOSA Newsletter under the headline: Old Time Something Come Back Again,  Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) brought to the attention of Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) Alumni, Honorary BOSA Members, Friends, Well-wishers, and other readers of its Newsletter in Jamaica and the Diaspora, the plight of 12 year old Nickayla Stephens of Flint Valley, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies.
You will all vividly recall, that on two rainy days, October 13 and 14, 2011, Nickayla’s bleak and dismal world changed from studying her lessons by the light of the dimly lit “Kitchen Bitch” tin kerosene oil lamp and the light from “Mass Ran” her grandfather’s cellular/mobile phone to electricity that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) provided in the one room apartment that she shared with her mentally ill mother.

BOSA’S Involvement Has Miraculously Transformed Nickayla’s Life.
Since Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) became the safety net for Nickayla, she has been miraculously transformed from the nervous, timid, unsure of her identity person that she was when BOSA met her in August 2011, to a beautiful confident teenager who knows who she is and what she desires to become.

Nickayla’s confident and positive approach, dedication, and discipline to her studies as a grade 8 student at Saint Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), Santa Cruz, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies, is manifested in her grade report for 2012/2013 school year. Nickayla who currently has an average of 78.9, received one A+, four A’s, eight B’s, and she came second in her class of 44 students!!

The Secretary/Treasurer Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) who is Nickayla’s mentor and with whom she communicates regularly and is not afraid to discuss her problems and concerns, wishes to place on record his gratitude to Nickayla’s Guardian/Caregiver Delvis “Lilly” James, her Form Teacher, and the entire faculty and ancillary staff at Saint Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) for the tremendous work that they have done in the transformation process.

Nickayla Has Been Rewarded For Being An Achiever And TrailBlazer.
In the pursuance to ensure that Nickayla continue to maintain her academic excellence as she begins the New School Year in September 2013 as a grade 9 student, through the benevolence of  Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) Alumna, BOSA Website Webmaster, and other individuals whose assistance she successfully obtained, Nickayla will begin the New School Year with a state of the art Pentium 4 Processor Dell Lap Tap Computer and a Cannon PIXMA iP2702 Inkjet Pinter. Arrangement is being made to hand over the Lap Tap and Printer to Nickayla at the next monthly general meeting of Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) that will be held in the main auditorium at Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 commencing at 4:00 PM.

Nickayla Will Be Feted Along With Other Students For Whom BOSA Is a Safety Net.
Nickayla is included among eight (8) that will be feted by Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) at our Annual Back To School Dinner that will be held at the historic Waterloo Guest House & Restaurant, High Street, Black River, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Monday, August 12, 2013 being Nickayla’s birthday anniversary, a cake will be provided at the dinner for her to blow out the candles, cut and share it with her fellow students and participants that will attend the dinner.
