Decision Taken At Meeting Held At Ministry of Education Head Office in Kingston, March 13, 2013

Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) is pleased to report that the meeting that was held at the Ministry of Education Head Office in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies on March 13, 2013 was very successful. The meeting that was presided over by Mrs. Elaine Foster-Allen, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education was convened to discuss, resolve, and bring closure to vexed contentious outstanding issues involving the Administration at Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) and Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA).

Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) wishes to place on record its admiration and gratitude for the tact, adroitness, and high level of professionalism, graciousness, and balance displayed by the Permanent Secretary as she presided over the meeting that was attended by other Technocrats from the Ministry of Education and Vincent Samuels, Secretary/Treasurer and Viola Cain-Hall, RN, Medical Officer, The Peace Corps Jamaica who represented the Association.

As a result of the decision taken by the Permanent Secretary in support of the decision taken by Kim Pratt, Trust Officer, Bermuda Trust Company Limited that Shanisa Jones’ excellent academic performance from September 2009 to the present time as a student at Saint Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), qualifies her as a beneficiary of James Richards Educational Trust Fund. The Permanent Secretary informed the meeting that she would send a directive to the School Board at Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) to make disbursements to defray the cost of Shanisa’s lunch, transportation, auxiliary school fees, and other inescapable miscellaneous expenses effective from March 25, 2013. The Permanent Secretary has directed Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) to discontinue financial assistance to Shanisa after March 22, 2013.

Additional information will be provided in Volume 14 of BOSA Newsletter regarding other decisions that were taken at the meeting by the Permanent Secretary who was supported by the Chief Inspector in the National Education Inspectorate and the Legal Consultant from the Legal Department, Ministry of Education.
