Students From Flint Valley Have Done It Again – Vincent Samuels

Nashana Dobbs

Nashana Dobbs, age 12 and Duvannie Brown, age 12, both from the impoverished peasant farming district of Flint Valley, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, Jamaica West Indies, have emerged as the two top performers in 2018 Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) that these students sat at Beersheba Primary School in March 2018. Both top performing students qualify as beneficiaries for James Richards Educational Trust Scholarship.

Nashana Dobbs, daughter of Nola Delisser, Janitor at Beersheba Primary School who scored an average of 89.4 in the examination, has been awarded a place at the Prestigious Ivy League Hampton School, Malvern, Saint Elizabeth where she will be admitted as a boarding student in September 2018.

Duvannie Graham

Duvannie Brown whose mother passed away last year leaving him in the care of Mrs. Veronica Graham, scored an average of 82. The Ministry of Education which administer the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT)  – which in 2019 will be replaced by Primary Exit Profile (PEP), has placed Duvannie at Saint Elizabeth Technical High School.

Beersheba Primary School which is currently undergoing a Turn Around Strategy under Mrs. Michele Sanderson, Acting Principal , whose management style is like a breath of fresh air at the school; has seen a reduction in migration of students to New Road All Age School, Westmoreland. The reduction in migration of students from Beersheba Primary School to New Road all Age School, is attributed to the fact that disgruntled dissatisfied parents with the former administration at the school which they claim was inimical to the interest and welfare of their children, are now satisfied that this unfortunate and undesirable situation has been ameliorated.

The Ministry of Education in placing successful 2018 GSAT from Beersheba Primary School Students in other High School namely, Maud McLeod, Godfrey Stewart, Maggotty, Black River and Lacovia; is encouraging and sets the stage for Beersheba Primary School, one of the former most outstanding Primary School in in North Western Saint Elizabeth, to once again become the learning institution to which young minds will gravitate to acquire a good primary education that will make them Achievers and Trailblazers in their respective careers in later years.

Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) with its zero tolerance for mediocrity, indifference and laziness; will provide the two top performing students with three full sets of school uniforms, note books and other school supplies. The Association will continue to function as safety net and monitor for these students throughout the years that they will spend in High School. Congratulations to all the Students from Beersheba Primary School. Good Job!
