It is indeed with much sad regret that Beersheba Primary School Alumni in Jamaica and the Diaspora has received news about the sudden passing of Lowell Hawthorne, Founder and CEO Caribbean Bakery & Grill in The Bronx, New York, USA.

Lowell, an Alumnus of Bronx Community College, The City University of New York, USA, is an Achiever and Trailblazer that is etched in the subliminal consciousness of everyone who knew him for his humility as an astute entrepreneur and philanthropist.

The lives of many professionals in academia whose lives have benefited from Golden Krust Foundation, is testimony of Lowell’s social responsiveness to poor and needy people in the USA, Jamaica and elsewhere.

Lowell whose vision to go into business for himself, worked as an Accountant with New York Police Department (NYPD) after he graduated from Bronx Community College and the City University of New York, opened the first flagship Golden Krust Store at 1381 E Gun Hill Road, Bronx, New York 10469 opposite the No. 5 New York Transit Station in 1989.

Lowell the Achiever and Trailblazer went on to build the Jamaica Beef Patty into a brand with more than 120 franchise restaurants in more than nine States in the USA. As Founder and CEO of Golden Krust the first Caribbean business in the USA to be granted a franchise license, the sudden passing of Lowell in his factory at 3958 Park Avenue near E 173 Street in the Claremont section of The South Bronx at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017, has sent shockwaves from the streets of The Bronx to his beloved homeland in Jamaica.
