Students From Beersheba Primary School Excel In 2015 GSAT Exam – Vincent Samuels

The Ministry of Education placement of two students at Hampton School, three at Saint Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) and an unconfirmed number of students at Lacovia and Black River High Schools that were successful in 2015 Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) Examination, is a big boost to Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased), New Market, Saint Elizabeth that has been suffering from migration of large numbers of students from the school to neighbouring New Roads All Age School, Westmoreland.

At the intervention of Dr. Trevor Hamilton, International Management Consultant and Beersheba Primary School alumnus, the writer of this article conducted a survey at Beersheba Primary School (Government Leased) and New Roads All Age School to ascertain the reason that parents were removing their children from Beersheba primary School and sending them to New Roads All Age School. A comparative analysis of the raw data done by Dr. Hamilton who commissioned the survey, found out that poor interpersonal relationship between the leadership at Beersheba primary School and Parents was the main reason that parents have removed their children from the school.

With the total number of students enrolled at Beersheba Primary School falling to an all time low of 87 in 2014/2015 school year, the school has been on the radar of the Ministry of Education for possible closure because the student population has fallen below 100.
Nevertheless, with a female student from Carr District – heritage site and birthplace of James “Dick” Richards, Beersheba Primary School Alumnus, Soldier, Self-made Businessman, Philanthropist and Icon – obtaining a grade of 91 with 99 in Mathematics, as a qualified beneficiary of James Richards Educational Trust Fund; it is hoped that the placement of this student at Hampton School, will be the “Balm in Gilead” that will ameliorate the relationship between the alleged tyrannically oligarchy ruled administration at Beersheba Primary School and Parents in the School Community so that parents will re-establish confidence in the school, rebuild the student population and save Beersheba Primary School – that was once the Ivy League of Primary Schools in new Market and adjoining communities – from closure and extinction.
