LLoyd-1

It is with much sad regret that Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) announces the passing of Lloyd George Barrett, 63 year old Beersheba Primary School Alumnus, self-educated, achiever and trailblazer extraordinaire.

Lloyd George Barrett migrated to the USA after working in the Accounts Department of Saint Elizabeth Parish Council but he later returned to Jamaica and resided in Portmore, Saint Catherine where he fell ill and his health deteriorated. His philanthropy to his peasant farming parents and siblings from his native “Barrett Town”, Woodlands, New Market, Saint Elizabeth, was rewarded in his illness when his sister Jenny Lyn Barrett-Graham, a female attendant employed to Black River Public General Hospital, heard about her brother’s demise and went to Portmore and brought him to her home at Woodlands, New Market, Saint Elizabeth where she became his caregiver.

Lloyd George Barrett passed away peacefully in the care of his sister Jenny Lyn and other family members on Sunday, April 5, 2015.

Vincent Brown, Retired Mico Trained Teacher who taught Lloyd George Barrett at Beersheba Primary School, related to the writer of this news article, Lloyd George Barrett’s zeal and enthusiasm to learn. “It is no wonder” said Mr. Brown, “that notwithstanding the impoverished humble home setting in which he was raised in poverty, Lloyd George Barrett use education as a vehicle to free himself from shackles of poverty to become a self-educated, achiever, and trailblazer extraordinaire.”

Lloyd George Barrett, whose parents predeceased him many years ago, leaves behind, daughter Michelle, Brother Patrick, Sisters Veneita and Jenny Lyn, several other relatives, friends and Beersheba Primary School Alumni in Jamaica and the Diaspora to grieve and mourn his loss.

Cremation of Lloyd George Barrett’s mortal remains will be done at a later date in keeping with the wish of the deceased.

Beersheba Old Students Association (BOSA) wishes to convey sincere condolence to all family members, other relatives and friends of the deceased as they try to cope with their loss.
